The Dickey Foundation, which was previously known as Barbecue, Boots and Badges, is focused on supporting first responders in local communities across the country.

This foundation's mission is to provide support, safety equipment and financial help to first responders in communities nationwide. Although it has a national reach, the Dickey Foundation's effort are local and support many programs, including Invest in a Vest and a yet-to-be-named program that is going to provide firefighters with breathing equipment.

So far this year, the foundation has provided ballistic vests to the Princeton Fire and Dallas Police Departments and fed millions of people who were impacted by Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Texas. In addition, the Dickey Foundation held its first benefit concert this past May, and $100,000 was raised for local first responders.

The organization's founder, Maurine Dickey, said that the foundation was created to support the brave women and men who risk their lives daily to ensure the safety of those in their communities. According to Dickey, the goal is to continually give first responders and their families the support they need to ensure their success and safety in the communities they are serving.

This foundation was created in the spirit of Dickey's Barbecue Pit, a franchise business brand that is dedicated to its Texas-style barbecue and the local communities that support the business. Founded back in 1941, this brand offers a variety of slow-cooked meats and home-style sides and has grown to over 550 locations across 45 states and overseas stores, with franchise opportunities still available. The franchise fee for one of these franchise opportunities is $20,000, and the total initial investment ranges from $289,939 to $421,244.
