Firehouse Subs Expanding Franchising Opportunities

Date

Mar 31, 2016

Sandwich chain Firehouse Subs just announced the grand opening of its first location in the state of Connecticut as part of its northeast expansion plans. The new location is on Main Street in Glastonbury and will be open each day from 10:30am to 9pm. This marks the first restaurant in the state and is also the first restaurant for local franchisee owners Jen and Jeff Finnerty.

Started by two former firefighting brothers, Chris and Robin Sorensen, each Firehouse Subs location features memorabilia from the local community and firefighting equipment and apparatus. The Glastonbury store has a hand-painted mural by Joe Puskas, Chief Mural Artist, and his team. It depicts the University of Connecticut's mascot Jonathan the Husky and firefighters interacting with children in the community. Like other Firehouse locations, the Glastonbury franchise business boasts a touchscreen Coca-Cola Freestyle® fountain that has more than 120 still and sparkling beverage brands for customers to chose from.

The Firehouse Subs Opportunity

Firehouse Subs offers large and medium specialty subs, which include the popular smoked turkey, Virginia ham and Monterey Jack cheese creation the Hook & Ladder®. Each location features more than 50 complimentary hot sauce varieties and an under-500 calorie menu that has six subs and four different chopped salads.

This franchise business is also known for its charitable efforts. In 2005, Firehouse Subs established the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation®. The organization provides educational opportunities, life-saving equipment and funding to local public safety organizations and first responders. Since its creation, the foundation has given more than $17 million to local heroes across 44 states and Puerto Rico.

With more than 900 locations opened since its inception in 1994, Firehouse Subs is offering franchising opportunities in several markets, including Connecticut, Florida and Idaho. Applicants must have a net worth of at least $300,000, with a minimum of $90,000 liquid. The franchise fee for one unit is $20,000, and the initial investment runs from $131,150 to $928,405.
