Glendora, CA - Jersey Mike's Subs officially
opened its doors in Glendora. Jersey Mike's owner, Alvaro Garcia
knows the importance of community relations and celebrated his new
ties with the area during his grand opening on Wed., November
16.
To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 865 W. Route 66, hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., Nov., 16 through Sun., Nov., 20, with proceeds supporting the athletic departments of Glendora High School, Gladstone High School, Azusa High School and Charter Oak High School. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon can receive a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution. More than 3,000 coupons were distributed throughout the Glendora, Covina and Azusa communities.
Alvaro Garcia's sponsorship of the local high schools has expanded into a community wide charitable contest. "To supplement the grand opening fundraiser, we chose to create an interactive competition among the four high schools," said Garcia. "We are distributing custom coupons to each school and for every coupon redeemed at Jersey Mike's Subs of Glendora, the corresponding school will receive $1 toward their school. In addition, the school that brings in the most coupons by Nov. 20 will receive an additional $1,500 contribution. Our hope is to spark interest and excitement in the community by actively involving the students."
All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. "Our franchises can only succeed when they are an active part of the local community," said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike's founder and CEO. "Through his involvement with the local high schools, Alvaro Garcia is showing he is committed to helping the young people of this community. We congratulate him on his newest location."
Celebrating the opening of his fourth SoCal location, Garcia is proud to represent the values of Jersey Mike's in all aspects of his business. "It is so refreshing to be involved in a brand that's not completely consumed by profit," said Garcia. "It's put a whole new light on our business practices by focusing our efforts on supporting the community."
Garcia who is an avid fan of the #13—Original Italian—looks forward to leading his team members in many more successful openings to come.
