Cafe2U receives BRW honor as Australia’s fastest growing coffee franchise

Date

Mar 11, 2013

Cafe2U has been acknowledged as the highest ranking coffee franchise on the 2011 BRW 'Fastest Franchises' List, in terms of growth by outlets. Cafe2U has experienced average annual growth of 33.66% growth by outlets over the three years to June 30, 2010.

It was also recognised as the fastest growing retail coffee franchise by revenue on the list.

One of the fastest growing business concepts in the nation, the Australian-born Cafe2U is now the largest mobile coffee franchise in the world. There are currently 110 franchises in Australia with a further 51 throughout the UK including Scotland, Northern England, Southern England, the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland.

This is the third consecutive year that the Sydney based mobile coffee franchise has appeared on the prestigious list, and supports the growing trend toward single owner, single operator franchise models.

The BRW 'Fastest Franchise' list is released in the first quarter each year and identifies Australia's fastest growing franchise systems over the past 12 month period. The list not only measures the growth of a franchise system in terms outlet numbers and system revenue, but also recognises the average sales growth experienced by franchisees within the system.

Cafe2U Chairman Andy Simpkin offered a simple explanation to BRW for the company's perennial success since its inception in 2004.

"Love your products and love your franchisees," he said.

Cafe2U managing director Derek Black believes Cafe2U's ongoing success has been derived by the attractive incentives the company has to offer, which helps them to stand out among the already-cluttered market place.

"We have found there are significant lifestyle considerations when somebody makes the decision to abandon their existing career path to become a franchisee. Most of our franchisees have cited the desire for more freedom in the course of their working week as a huge attraction. They can now pick their children up from school whereas previously this simply wasn't a possibility.

"The hours are more flexible, we help them build their customer base with the help of a franchise development manager and a successful franchise alleviates the fear of hitting the ground running with an anonymous new venture. The marketing investment has already been made from our end, the business model is sound and our brandname is established in the marketplace."

Steve McCarthy, who launched a Cafe2U franchise in Tamworth, NSW at the beginning of February, echoed a common sentiment.

"I've only been doing this for two weeks now but my opinion of Cafe2U has not changed. This is the best move I have made in my life and I am feeling just great about life. Cafe2U is partly responsible for this, and for that, I am eternally grateful."

The BRW 'Fastest Franchises' edition is available now in newsagents across the nation.
