Smashburger Franchsie Opens Niskayuna Location

Date

Jan 06, 2016

A new Smashburger store in Niskayuna, New York, opened its doors on December 17th.

Located in the ShopRite plaza on Balltown Road, the Niskayuna Smashburger is now the closest fast-food eatery to a local high school. This locational advantage makes it likely to succeed, according to Columbia Development Companies Real Estate Director Marc Goldstein.

Goldstein and Leo Butera, his business partner, are the franchise owners of Smashburger in Vermont and the Capital Region. The Niskayuna store marks the third Smashburger locally, with the other two on Wolf Road in Colonie and Marion Avenue in Saratoga Springs. The partners are also planning to open a fourth location in the Clifton Park area some time in 2016.

Local people are glad to see the spot filled, said Goldstein, and it will serve as a new place for students to have lunch. Goldstein also reported that the new location has created 30 jobs for area high school students, who have so far impressed Goldstein with their performance.

The Smashburger menu has a variety of offerings, from chicken to veggie and classic burgers and full dinner and lunch meals. The brand is also known for its hand-spun Haagen-Dazs shakes.

The idea for the Smashburger location occurred to Goldstein out of the blue one day while he was there on an errand. He’s a frequent Niskayuna ShopRite shopper, and he remarked that sometimes you don’t see what is right in front of you at first.

Smashburger has franchises for sale in several areas. You must have a net worth of at least $1.5 million with $500,000 liquid, but both individual and partner ownership is allowed to meet these requirements.
