Duck Donuts Franchise Business Partners with ALSF

Made-to-order baked goods franchise business Duck Donuts just announced its inaugural in-store drive to raise money for the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), a nonprofit organization that is focused on finding cures for children who have cancer.

Until June 30, locations participating in this drive will ask guests if they'd like to purchase a donut with lemon icing with blueberry drizzle named "Alex's Donut" after Alexandra Scott, who lost her battle with childhood cancer back in 2004. ALSF came from her idea to run a lemonade stand to raise money for other children with cancer. The donut will have a special price, and $1 from each sale will go to the foundation to support their mission to help children with cancer by supporting families, raising awareness and funding innovative research.

Brand CEO Russ DiGilio said that Alex's story--a young, brave entrepreneur who was trying to make a difference--resonates with the company and that they are proud to be able to support the foundation. The American Cancer Society says that cancer is the second-leading cause of death of children aged 1 to 14, after accidents (https://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancer-in-children/key-statistics.html). Nevertheless, child cancer research is underfunded across the board, and each dollar raised by the donut brand's drive will go toward research aimed at finding better treatments and cures for children suffering from the disease.

Alexandra's mother and ALSF co-executive director Liz Scott said the foundation is thrilled to welcome the donut brand to its team of partners united to fight childhood cancer. According to Scott, it's supporting partners like Duck Donuts that help make the foundation's mission of raising awareness and funding for research possible.

This baked goods brand counts local community support among its core values and holds "Quack Gives Back" initiatives each month. This program promotes local community group partnerships to raise awareness and funds for various causes, and the company is excited to add ALSF to its national partner list for this endeavor.

Franchise Opportunities are Available

Founded by Russ DiGilio in 2006, Duck Donuts came from a need to solve a problem: DiGilio and his family couldn't find a place to buy warm made-to-order donuts while on vacation, so they decided to start their own. Since then, the brand has expanded to 78 open locations in two countries, with over 145 in-development contracts across 26 states and franchise opportunities still open in many markets. The total initial investment ranges from $348,350 to $568,000.
