Austin Business Journal Honors Sport Clips CEO

Date

Dec 09, 2015

CEO and Founder of Sport Clips Gordon Logan has just been named "Best CEO" in the large company category by the Austin Business Journal. This annual award is reserved for CEOs across various industries including technology, retail and the nonprofit sector in the Central Texas area.

Gordon spoke about receiving the honor, saying that the State of Texas has been home to Sport Clips for close to three decades. According to Gordon, the ultimate award for him has been watching the boys’ and men’s haircut franchise business become the leading hair care solution for boys and men across Texas and the United States.

This honor is not the first for the Sport Clips franchise opportunity. The franchise has also been included in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top 10 Fastest-Growing Franchises and is 36th in the publication’s Franchise 500. Sport Clips was also named in Military Times’ 2016 Best for Vets: Franchises list.

About Sport Clips Franchise Opportunity

Gordon Logan noticed the dire need for services in the boys’ and men’s haircut market in the early 1990s. Seeing the potential and lack of competition, Logan put together a professional team to create the unique franchise business’s concept. In 1993, the first Sport Clips location opened its doors in Austin, Texas. Since then, Sport Clips has emerged as a leader in the men’s grooming services market, with its sports-themed haircut experience striking a chord with customers everywhere.

Sport Clips moved into Dallas and Houston after opening its Austin location, with its further expansion plans based on places where Southwest Airlines flew to in order to keep travel costs down. The first 50 locations were opened over a span of five years, with the franchise opportunity celebrating the opening of its 400th and 500th locations in 2007. In 2012, Sport Clips opened its first location in Canada.

Currently, Sport Clips is planning to open a location in its 50th state in the U.S. and has more than 1,300 stores in Canada and the U.S.

Sport Clips also emphasizes ties with the community and military veterans. Its CEO was an Aircraft Commander in the U.S. Air Force prior to starting the business. In 2013, the company pledged $1 million to nonprofits in the Georgetown, Texas, area, where the company is based. The Logans have also been honored for their work with other charities, including R.O.C.K, Habitat for Humanity, and the Boys and Girls Club.

Since 2007, the Sport Clips franchises across the United States have raised $3 million through the annual Help A Hero drive for the VFW Foundation, which helps hospitalized and deployed U.S. service members place calls to home and provides grants for veterans who are transitioning from the military to civilian careers.
