Arooga's Franchise Opens in Patchogue, New York

Date

Jan 03, 2016

National franchise business Arooga’s Grille House and Sports Bar just announced a flagship location in Building 5 at the Four Corners in New Village in Patchogue, New York. Franchisee Joe Alagna, a partner and the CEO of Manhattan-based Joseph Gunnar & Co., LLC, is planning to open ten Arooga’s in total across Nassau, Suffolk and Queens, but the New Village space is the "crown jewel" store at a total of 7,340 square feet.

Rob Loscalzo, Chief Operating Officer of space developer Tritec, said that the developer met with the franchiser about the development's quality.  He added that they have been working together since July of 2015. According to Loscalzo, the franchise business is focused on interacting with those living in the residential portion of the development and the local village residents.

Alagna, a resident of Sands Point in Nassau County, New York, was recently at his Tritec space. He spoke of his 27 years of experience on Wall Street and of his passion for the restaurant franchise industry. Once he heard about Arooga’s, he took a closer look and found that the franchise opportunity had won America’s Next Top Restaurant Franchise back in 2013 and that the rights to all 15 locations in New England were bought by the Mohegan Sun Casino.

According to Alagna, Arooga's theme is a health-conscious family restaurant and sports grill with 100 TV sets. He said the menu spans 12 pages, and half of the food listed is antibiotic-free and gluten-free. The franchise opportunity, Alagna says, is focused on using the best ingredients possible, and this includes 100 percent Kobe beef that is grass-fed. The new Arooga's will also feature 40 different craft beers.

Alagna began searching for a location for his Arooga's about eight months ago. He saw articles about the Patchogue area, and a friend of his rents a New Village apartment and also told him about the area. The construction documents are currently in the process of being drawn up, and Loscalzo said they're targeting a spring 2016 opening date for the new Arooga's location.
