A few of the highlights include adding more efficient spray valves and faucets, CFL and LED lighting, low VOC paints and coatings, and cardboard recycling as well as removing all polystyrene from the restaurant.
At the same time, Moe's menu boasts a wide variety of vegetarian and vegan offerings many of which feature organic tofu. Moe's also offers all natural cage-free chicken, grain-fed steroid-free pulled pork, both with no hormones added, and 100% grass-fed sirloin steak.
"As a brand, we are committed to sustainability," says Paul Damico, president of Moe's Southwest Grill. "We're excited to share green best practices with the franchise system, now that we have completed the process of earning a Green Restaurant Certification at one of our company restaurants."
This announcement comes on the heels of Moe's earning LEED Silver Certification at a franchised restaurant in Williston, VT and only nine months after the brand introduced its Food Mission.
