Hounds Town Franchise Business Sees Sales Surge

Date

Jul 17, 2017

Hounds Town, a franchise business brand offering interactive daycare and boarding facilities for dogs, has just seen its Farmingdale, New York location land a record-breaking April. This location was opened back in 2012 but was sold to former customer Maria Gillen and employees Candice Lorenzana and Jennifer Jung in May of 2015. Sales for April of 2017 are up over 60 percent when compared to April of 2016. The location had more than 1,600 dogs in April this year, reaching close to capacity and passing all other franchise locations in revenue and guests despite being the smallest in size.

On top of the amazing April results, the Farmingdale location had an impressive 2016 overall. Vice President of Franchise Operations Jackie Bondanza said the services offered by the location are clearly needed by the local community and they are doing something right, with their challenge now being to keep it up. The VP also noted that brand franchisees are encouraged to put photos and videos on social media sites during the day so owners can see their animals as this fosters a personal relationship with the owner and makes them feel secure about using the facility.

One area where Hound Towns does particularly well is with its policy regarding "aggressive" breeds and senior dogs. While many pet centers currently turn these dogs away, the brand welcomes them at its locations. Franchisees are trained to handle all types of dogs, regardless of age, breed, size or disability. Each dog does need to pass an evaluation of its temperament, during which it is introduced to another dog and the staff. Once the dog passes, it's welcome to make use of the location's many services, including "spa" appointments, boarding, extended operating hours and half-priced baths on days with rain.

Franchise opportunities in a growing industry

The pet industry in the US is booming, with the American Pet Products Association estimating spending will reach $69 billion over 2017 (http://www.americanpetproducts.org/press_industrytrends.asp). In the midst of this rapidly-expanding sector is Hounds Town, which currently has franchise opportunities available in many areas. The franchise fee is $35,000, with the initial investment ranging from $100,000 to $150,000.
