Dippin Dots, Doc Popcorn Making Franchise Business Push

Date

Jan 16, 2017

Flash-frozen ice cream brand and frozen treat leader Dippin' Dots and its sister brand, Doc Popcorn—the biggest freshly-popped popcorn franchise in the world—recently held their inaugural Dippin Dots and Doc Popcorn co-brand franchisee conference. This event was held in Las Vegas, and franchisees from both brands hailing from around the country came together to celebrate the successes of the year, network, and share ideas.

Dippin' Dots CEO and President Scott Fischer remarked that the franchise business co-branding is currently the main strategy for growth in high-traffic spaces, such as shopping malls. The franchiser is seeing continual growth in co-branded location interest, and they expect the trend to continue for the upcoming year. There are now 16 co-branded Doc Popcorn/Dippin' Dots locations in the US, and there are another 10 to 15 slated to open in 2017.

Rob Israel, Co-Founder of Doc Popcorn, also spoke, saying that franchisees who operate co-branded locations have enjoyed success without having to get significantly more space by being able to increase the product variety all year-round. Customers can choose between savory popcorn or sweet ice cream, and Israel noted that they have responded well to these options.

Franchisees were also recognized for their hard work at the first annual conference. Dippin' Dots franchisees Carl and Kim Michael of Illinois and Doc Popcorn franchisee Denise McCaskill of Texas each received the Founder's Award. This accolade goes to franchisees who best represent the brand's values and act as examples for other franchisees across the system.

The Dippin Dots/Doc Popcorn Franchise Opportunities

Franchise opportunities are available from both Dippin' Dots, a specialty ice cream leader since 1988, and Doc Popcorn, which has been successfully franchising since 2009. There are also co-branding locations, in which franchisees can offer products from both brands in the same location.
