Sanrio the Brand

Introduced in 1974 by Sanrio Co., LTD., Hello Kitty’s enduring success has led to the creation of a variety of fun, functional and fashionable lifestyle merchandise. Sanrio Inc. develops, distributes and licenses a unique collection of over 12,000 gift, stationery and fashion accessory items for women of all ages. Hello Kitty is the company’s flagship brand. Sanrio was founded in 1960 based on the concept that a small gift can bring a big smile to a child of any age. Today, there are over 300 Sanrio boutiques throughout the Western Hemisphere, with 95 in the United States. In addition, Sanrio character products are sold in over 10,000 U.S. locations including department, specialty stores, and national chain stores.

Sanrio and Nakajima USA

In April 2004, Sanrio Co. Ltd., expanded its license to Nakajima USA to include all categories of products for the U.S. Sanrio boutique stores and specialty gift stores.

Nakajima USA currently assumes responsibility for the boutique and retail store business to include 60 independently run Sanrio stores, 35 Nakajima USA corporate owned Sanrio stores, and the wholesale gift business to include 2000+ accounts nationwide. Today, Nakajima USA is Sanrio’s principle licensee and its primary partner for the Special Retail Channel in the U.S.

Product Line

During the course of the year, each Sanrio boutique store will be offered a wide range of product catalogs. Nakajima USA offers over 1800+ new items annually. Nakajima USA’s products include a wide variety of product categories and collections that feature the beloved Sanrio characters. New products are released each and every month. Nakajima USA also offers its own signature characters, with a fun line of ultra-soft plush and other popular product categories. It is our ability to provide a large variety of new and one-of-a-kind products each month that bring customers back to your store time and time again.

Our on-line ordering system allows customers to place orders any time day or night, at their convenience from any PC with Internet Explorer version 6.0 or higher.
