Unishippers Franchise Business Leader Caps Off Stellar 2015
Unishippers Global Logistics, LLC, the first and one of the largest third-party logistics providers, recently closed an exciting year. The 3PL sector in general has been gaining traction as more small and medium-sized businesses look to shipping partners to help them be more competitive, and Unishippers Global Logistics is emerging as a leader in this sector thanks to its technological and service innovations.
For the eighth year in a row, Unishippers earned a spot on Entrepreneur magazine’s Franchise 500, a comprehensive ranking of the top franchise businesses in the United States. The 3PL firm rose an incredible 157 spots from last year, landing at Number 178 on this year’s list.
Unishippers Global Logistics President Kevin Lathrop said that the company was honored to reach the top 200 on the prestigious list. He spoke of other company highlights for the year, such as the new transportation management website, which is user-friendly and provides customers with reliable access, and the selling of 20 franchise businesses to new Unishippers owners who were interested in a rapidly growing franchise opportunity.
This past June, Unishippers earned revenue of $44.4 million, a new record for the company that shattered the previous high point of $41.2 million. That positive growth trend continued, with Unishippers marking annual revenue of $451 million by the end of 2015.
Unishippers subsidiary Launch Logistics, LLC also enjoyed rapid growth over 2015 and sped up its hiring efforts just to meet demand. Launch Logistics focuses on sales efficiency, customer retention and customer satisfaction. The subsidiary also tests new tech and operational methods, which are then passed on to the greater franchise system once proven.
Launch Logistics President Joe Curtis said that Launch Logistics has proven to be a "game-changer" for Unishippers. While only in its second year, Launch Logistics has already hired more than 40 employees for its Salt Lake City office and has annual revenue of around $20 million.
