Subway Franchise Teamed Up With Children’s Miracle Network in Fundraising Drive

Sandwich franchise business Subway Restaurants had teamed up with the Children’s Miracle Network of Northern New York at Samaritan Medical Center in a fundraising effort across New York and Massachusetts to raise $250,000. The campaign started around Thanksgiving and  ended in December. The money that was  raised will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in both states.

According to the chairperson of the local Subway franchise group, Rick Allen, while the franchise is a national brand, their stores are owned by locals and operated locally, so the connection to the Watertown area is important. By accessing that connection, Allen says the franchisees and Subway can help support the Samaritan Medical Center's mission to meet the needs of local families who are facing medical hardship.

Samaritan’s Children’s Miracle Network's Development Manager, Morgan O. Bocciolatt, also spoke about the Subway drive, saying campaigns to raise funds such as this one make a difference when it comes to providing services to area families.

Bocciolatt said it's important that people know what their donations allow Children’s Miracle Network to do for local children and their families, and that efforts such as Subway's mean that more children can have miracles like that of Madison Draper.

About Subway Franchise Opportunity:

The first Subway was opened by 17-year-old Fred Deluca with the help of a friend and business partner, Dr. Peter Buck, in Connecticut in 1965. By 1974, the men had opened 16 stores throughout the state, and they turned to franchising to help grow the business faster. Today, Subway is the biggest submarine sandwich chain in the world, with more than 37,000 locations globally.

Subway is currently looking for franchisees in several markets. The initial franchise fee in the U.S. is $15,000, with the total investment ranging from $116,000 to $263,000. Although Subway does not provide financing, the company does work with a network of lenders and has an equipment leasing program.
