Rosati’s Pizza Franchise Reopens in Elburn, Illinois
The Elburn Rosati’s Pizza on N. Main Street reopened on December 5th with a newly remodeled interior that features televisions and a Chicago sports theme.
St. Charles resident Amin Kanchwala is the new owner of the Elburn store, which was closed by the prior owners back in the summer. Even though remodeling was just recently completed, Kanchwala mentioned future plans, saying he would eventually like to have a larger and more upscale dining area. Currently, the franchisee’s focus is on promoting the Rosati’s brand.
Rosati’s Pizza Elburn is offering free delivery from open to close each day. The store is open from 10:30 AM to 9:30 PM Sunday through Thursday and from 10:30 AM to 11:00 PM Friday and Saturday.
Rosati’s Pizza: A True Family Business
Back in 1895, Italian immigrant Ferdinand Rosati opened his fine dining Italian restaurant on Coney Island. He moved to Chicago in 1906 and opened another eatery on Taylor Street. Rosati’s Chicago location was a big success, so he soon eyed expansion and added a saloon, a hotel and an import-export Italian foods business.
In 1927, his son Saverio Rosati opened his own restaurant in Chicago next door to the Marbro Theater. The eatery attracted famous people and politicians from across the city, becoming just as successful as his father’s business.
When Saverio retired in 1964, his sons Ron, Dick and Al recognized the growing popularity of pizza, an Italian staple. They opened the first Rosati’s Pizza location in Mount Prospect, a suburb of Illinois. Ten Rosati family members would own a carryout pizza location by 1978.
With the business brand established in the suburbs of Chicago, the family decided to make the move to franchising to increase their overall growth and cement their presence in the pizza market.
The Rosati’s Franchise Brand
Rosati’s Pizza offers customers a variety of pizzas made using traditional family recipes. Menu items include thin-crust, Chicago-style and double-dough pizzas alongside calzones, desserts, pastas, salads and sandwiches. Rosati’s also offers catering for events.
Currently, Rosati’s Pizza has close to 200 franchise locations across the United States and has introduced a new concept, the Rosati’s Pizza Sports Pub. The franchise business is seeking franchisees in several markets. Qualified franchisees will have a net worth of more than $400,000, with a minimum of $100,000 liquid assets. The initial franchise fee is $25,000, with the total investment ranging from $136,700 to $733,000. While Rosati’s does not provide financing, the franchiser does work with traditional and Small Business Administration lenders.
The franchise agreement, which comes with renewal options, runs for 15 years. An average Rosati’s location is 1,200 feet, and the build-out takes from 8 to 12 weeks once the landlord has turned over the space.
