Papa Murphy's Franchise Business Storming Alabama
Papa Murphy’s Holdings, Inc. recently announced the signing of expanded store development agreements to develop 12 new locations in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Birmingham and Huntsville, Alabama, over the next four years. The brand currently has 42 locations in North Carolina and Alabama, and the new deal with Waterman Acquisition Company, LLC will bring that total up to 54.
A recent study from research firm AggData found that Papa Murphy’s
is currently the fastest-growing brand in Alabama, with a 43 percent growth rate in the state. Area developer and Waterman owner Boyd Simpson, who has been a Papa Murphy’s franchisee since 2011, said that the group experienced significant growth with its existing Papa Murphy’s stores in the two markets and knew it was time to expand their portfolio with more locations. This new deal means the existing store count will go from 12 to 24 in the Huntsville and Birmingham areas and from 10 to 12 in Waterman's Raleigh area.
Papa Murphy’s Senior Vice President of Technology and Chief Development Officer Jayson Tipp noted that the franchise business's southern US growth is part of the company's commitment to expanding nationwide and bringing its fresh pizza model to markets that are currently underserved. According to Tipp, consumers are drawn to the brand because of its high-quality products and top-notch customer service. Papa Murphy’s also recently launched an online ordering system that allows customers to make their own pizzas and pick them up in the stores when they want.
